Joel with wish kid Evan after completing his first Wish A Mile – July 2017

Day 2 of 2019 Wish A Mile. They may look happy but they were miserable. They were fighting sustained winds of 28 miles per hour with gusts up to 50. Joel wound up the day at 112 miles. He’s on the left next to the guy with his right hand on the sign. His brother-in-law Bruce is the big guy in the middle of the back row.

Just before the finish line, all of Team Alex gets off their bikes and walks past this hillside with stars representing wish kids that died from their conditions. Incredibly gut-wrenching. It’s another reminder of why they ride.
